I get called now and again to go to the Gap Studio and style Web. Theres alot I like about this studio. One, the people. The folks that work there are tried and true. Senior Stylists, Senior Photographers, Freelance Photographers and Stylists, Jr Stylists and Assistants, Producers, Money People, PA's & DA's, Sample Peeps.... It's always a fine tuned instrument. Two, the Studio itself is built for everyones bodies to be ok. Really ok. Maybe even better than ok. Tables for styling and prep are high, floor matts abound, not the jenky ones...but the for real ones...that mean you can still go running after work. They are everywhere. When I'm on set...my feet never leave a safe haven. Tables tilt up for Stylist with bum backs...(most likely from the Studios that don't take this care and precaution for their people). Seriously, it's deluxe and thoughtful. Easy to show up and do a good job, and leave not exhausted. :)
The samples always look great, the programs on the computers are up and running and work in a solid fashion. Lot's of folks paying attention there. Seeing things, catching what can be improved on & then ACTING on improving it! Its Brilliant!
I love the Gap web sep's right now. They're hanging and I appreciate that aesthetic. Gravity and fabric often go hand in hand nicely and execution is a breeze. Making some thing look effortless, takes effort. If you've tried it, you know what I'm saying. Often the most simple shot, took the most care and preparation. Everything looks great at Gap. The DA's do a hell of a good job. The Shooters do a hell of a good job. The Jr Stylists and Sr Stylists do a hell of a good job. Everyone there...yep, does a hell of a good job.
Thank you Gap!
